About 999Tom Recruitment
Tom Booth - owner; 999tom.com
Tom Booth started his Motor Trade career before joining University - in Bradford as a weekend partsman. After a stint as credit controller and 3 years at Leeds University, Tom became accountant for the 3 Grace and Sutcliffe dealerships in Bradford and Keighley.
Tom's early success brought him to the attention of TSB and an offer as General Manager in Chester - running a Renault Dealership, took Tom out of Yorkshire for the first time. This lead to a 12 year career in Cheshire, being transferred to various brands including Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar and culminating in Tom running 4 Businesses in the County.
Regional Management roles followed; in the West and East Midlands and the Potteries, progressing to Board level appointments. The fluctuating fortunes of the Automotive sector immersed Tom in various business recovery assignments over these early years. The North West called again - this time in the role of Board Director for Lookers, initially running 27 dealerships but within 5 years, an exciting assignment to help form the platform for Ford Retail; amalgamating Polar Motor Company and Dagenham Motors presented itself. Tom was given charge of the North whilst his boss moved south and formed the Ford representation plan for what was to become Ford Retail. This was a classic re-structure role with changes in the representation plan together with complete management structure overhaul. This job later moved Tom back to the North West to turnaround and recover and re structure the Polar North West businesses - some of the largest Truck and Car dealerships in the UK. The North West CMA was to become the biggest CMA recovery on record at Ford UK; within 12 months, Tom had lead the team to a £2.5m recovery in just one year. With the job done and only the prospect of a further move on the horizon - Tom landed the job of Regional Director for Perrys. This was a smaller role than Tom had become used to but in only 2 years, the business was transformed. The most significant metric being overall improvement in excess of 1,000%.
An approach from Royal Bank of Scotland to work with them in re-structuring their motor division - in particular the Dixon Motor Group, became Tom's biggest job. 50+ sites, £850m turnover, 2,300 staff.. More recently, in the last 6 years, Tom has identified a niche in the recruitment sector, focusing in particular on Automotive recruitment. The business "999tom.com Limited" serves to identify and recruit experienced motor industry staff, together with recruits new to the industry. Tom has spent to majority of his career as a Hired Gun - deployed on a succession of business recovery, turnaround and Company Doctor roles. His latest clients in this area being Stirling Investments Limited, Interim Partners Limited and Endless Llp and Brownhills for HBoS. All of the assignments which Tom Booth has undertaken in the last 15 years are dealt with in a little more detail as below.
