Tom Booth started his Motor Trade career at Grace & Sutcliffe (Toyota Franchise) in Bradford as partsman, later to become service receptionist, service manager then on to credit controller and much later, after 3 years at Leeds Polytechnic and latterly University - became dealership accountant. 3 years in a group accounting role for G&S and Tom Booth found himself broadening his experience by selling cars for Derek Cook in South Yorkshire, eventually rising to top salesman for 1 month, sales controller, sales manager and on to General Manager in Brinsworth Renault at Rotherham.
Tom Booth's success with Renault brought him to the attention of TSB who took Tom to Cheshire to run the Renault dealership in Chester. This lead to Tom Booth taking a 12 year career in Cheshire, being transferred to Rover and concluding Tom Booths first North West stint running 4 Rover Businesses.
Evans Halshaw was Tom Booths first foray into true Regional Management at the ops Board level - running their North Midlands businesses based in Stoke-on-Trent. When Geoff Dale left the Company, Tom Booth left also and returned to the North West as Regional Director for Lookers but within 5 years, was attracted to the prospect of forming the pre-cursor to Ford Retail with the amalgamation of Polar Motor Company and Dagenham Motors. In this time, Tom Booth worked for Alun Jones and they re-formed the Ford representation plan for Ford with Tom Booth running the North whilst Alun took charge of the Central control from Colchester. This job moved Tom Booth to the North West and he needed a local role close to home, landing the job of Regional Director for Perrys. In only 2 years, Tom Booth transformed the business performance of Perrys Yorkshire operations with overall improvement in excess of 1,000%.
Tom Booth would probably have stayed at Perrys but for an approach from Royal Bank of Scotland to work with them in re-structuring their motor division - in particular the Dixon Motor Group. More recently, Tom Booth has identified a niche in the recruitment sector, focusing in particular on Automotive recruitment. The business "999tom.com Limited" serves to identify and recruit experienced motor industry staff, together with recruits new to the industry. Tom spends much of his time on executive search assignments, business recovery and Company Doctor roles. His latest clients in this area being Stirling Investments Limited, Interim Partners Limited and Endless Llp.All of the assignments which Tom Booth has undertaken in the last 15 years are dealt with in a little more detail on Tom Booth's recruitment and training website www.999tom.com
