Used Car Sales Manager

To manage the Retail Sales Team ensuring that each opportunity to do business is handled in a professional systematic way, to enhance both the profit opportunity and the customers perceptions of the professionalism and integrity of the Adventure Group and its employees

To manage the personnel and operations of the Retail Used Car Sales department ensuringvolume and profit targets are met

Manage inventory for levels, values, model and colour mix to optimal balance. Predict seasonal changes in demand and supply and manage the situation optimally

Operate continuous, fully developed, effective SMART objectives through a departmental development plan.

To provide and maintain high standards of customer satisfaction and retention
Duties and Responsibilities

Be involved in reviewing operational targets, annual sales volume and budget plans and present monthly/ weekly reports to the regional Manager

Review departmental activities daily

Regularly investigate market trends and opportunities and develop advertising and promotions in agreement with the Regional Manager and group policy

Ensure customer handling practices are of the highest quality and in line with the Ford Customer Satisfaction Standards

Handle complaints effectively resolving them to the satisfaction of the customer and the company

Review daily sales activities and review targets monthly

Effectively control and minimise sales vehicles debtors list

Ensure the vehicle preparation, presentation and display is of a high standard which meets the Regional minimum standards and units are rearranged/ featured for maximum impact

Obtain retail stock at market prices ensuring effective profit per unit

Maintain a sound and competitive pricing strategy and deal with and auction centres to ensure top prices on vehicles traded

Attend car auctions to sell excess stock and keep abreast of current values and trends

Ensure that the overall valuation of the used vehicle inventory is not higher than can be readily obtained at auction

Control vehicle stock levels and keep within defined maximum stock value to ensure that the company used vehicle ageing policy is adhered to. Maintain accurate inventories. Work closely with the new car department to control part-exchange values and prevent over-trading.

Ensure vehicles are accurately appraised for trade-in and determine reconditioning limits

Define and organise duties and responsibilities within the department for the efficient achievement of objectives

Recruit, train and develop staff as necessary

Organise and participate in the regular in-house coaching sessions necessary to fully maintain Sales process

Lead and motivate staff to achieve their full potential

Carry out regular appraisals of staff performance and handle grievance or disciplinary matters in discussion with the Personnel Department

Review staff salaries and develop competitive salary and commission plans in discussion with the Regional Manager to stimulate sales

Regularly communicate with the team on departmental issues, business developments, Customer Satisfaction, etc.

Contribute fully to Dealership meetings and keep abreast of developments in the motor trade generally, Ford, Customer Viewpoint and government legislation

Ensure that all sales activities comply with government regulations, including Trade Descriptions, Sale and Supply act. Consumer Protection and Customer Credit Acts and in particular never offer a car for sale which has not been pre-sales checked or which does not have genuine mileage recorded on the odometer.

Maintain personal and departmental staff awareness of the company?s quality policies and procedures, and ensure staff comply

Ensure high standards of administration within the department

Complete discretionary management checks on systems and procedures

Maintain the security and good housekeeping of the department

Attend training courses as required

?Carry out other duties as required from time to time

To ensure the safe working environment for all employees by complying with the statutory legislation and Government Health and Safety Policy

To report immediately any non conformance to the appropriate senior position

RELATIONSHIPS

Directly responsible to: Regional Manager

Directly supervises: Sales staff

Service/ Consultative relationships with: Manufacturer and suppliers
